When my team and I delivered the chosen Electronic Patient Record System (EPR) into the Herts Partnership University Foundation Trust NHS, Dave was the principle service lead for CAMHS. His input was required to review the new process maps on how the service would be working. Dave had to push though these change with his team. The other aspects that were also crucial were;
Anslem Lobo - RiO Programme Manager
Dave was commissioned as Quality and Governance Lead to enable a service to change governing bodies from CQC to Ofsted; however this was just the tip of the iceberg of the amazing support Dave was able to offer us.
Dave is very skilled at finding areas that require improvement and implementing safe and effective processes to manage these; whilst coaching the team and giving them the confidence to move forward with the new approaches.
Dave demonstrates a high level of knowledge within all aspects of healthcare and is very flexible with his approach. Dave is committed to the cause and has willingly immersed himself in all parts of the service.
It is clear that Dave cares about the needs and safety of the young people and is passionate about quality standards of care!
He would be an asset to any team and I will sorely miss working with him!
Linda Stanbury - Clinical Nurse Specialist
I had the pleasure of working alongside Dave in 2011. I found him to be an honest, committed and dedicated professional and an expert in the field of community drugs and alcohol and also addictions within the justice sector. He is a warm, approachable person and would be a strong asset to any project team where he will bring both strategic/planning expertise as well as the skills to operationalise projects. In short he can help you determine the "what" and design and manage the "how" to bring projects to reality as well as being a really nice person to work with.
I initially employed David as Interim Quality and Governance Manager when I was Specialist Services Director. The services I was responsible for were specialist residential homes for children and young people with eating disorders, self-harm and associated risk taking behaviours and a CAMHS Acute Eating Disorder Hospital.
I subsequently employed David as Interim Quality and Governance Lead when I was Hospital Director. This hospital had been placed into “Special Measures” by the regulator. The hospital consisted of a General Adolescent Unit, Eating Disorder Unit and Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit; and David worked alongside me, for a period of six months, to successfully turn matters around.
During both of these periods David showed himself to be a highly skilled operator, fully conversant with standards and regulations as laid out by either Ofsted or CQC. David’s ability to develop and run Quality and Governance systems and processes is excellent; and what stands him apart from other Quality and Governance managers I have worked with is his ability and willingness to then deliver practical operational input and support to ensure these are successfully imbedded in day to day work. To my mind, David is a rare individual who has both the focus and attention to detail, required to ensure effective quality and governance, and the drive and practicality to be a skilled clinical operator.
David is an excellent communicator, offers sound support and supervision to his direct reports and is a superb “finisher completer”. He is also a proficient policy writer.
In short I believe David to be an extremely well rounded and highly effective practitioner and manager; who is able to galvanise teams and services. David performs these tasks whilst able to remain a popular and valued member of senior management, able to win the trust and cooperation of those he manages and reports to.
I have no hesitation in recommending David for either Quality and Governance roles or senior operational/managerial roles.
